The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Montessori-based Catholic religious formation for children
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me ..." Matthew 19:14
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) offers a unique approach in helping children draw themselves into a relationship with God.
The Catechesi embraces Maria Montessori’s vision of the human person and aligns fully with her educational philosophy. It recognizes that the child’s developmental needs at each stage are the true guide for the Catechesis, shaping both the environment and the method of presentation.
Children gather in an “atrium,” a room prepared for them, which contains simple yet beautiful materials they use to help them absorb the most essential proclamations of the Christian faith.
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a sensorially rich experience for children from the ages of 3 to 12 years that gives children the opportunity to grow in love and knowledge of God through the Christian tradition.
